Inktober: Day 2

I call this one "The Hunters". More than a little inspired by the White Walkers from Game Of Thrones. #inktober
brush pen, marker and watercolor.

INKTOBER!

October is here! And I've decided to take up the challenge of one inked drawing per day for the whole month. I'm going to try to keep it Halloween themed, so my first drawing is this Pumpkin Rider girl with her cats. #inktober
pencil drawing, sparklies!

laying in the solid blacks first with brush pen.

final inked drawing with a little crosshatching . It's so hard without water coloring those halftones.

Marker Landscapes

So I bought some fancy markers recently. Copic markers. Not your Crayola non-toxic shove-up-your-nose toddler markers. Nope, these are badass, come in a zillion colors, imported from japan, expensive markery goodness. I've never really worked in marker before, a lot of the skill comes in layering the colors, so it's a bit like watercoloring in that you work light to start and layer the colors for a rich, organic effect.
I've done a couple of mini landscapes to test out the new set. I'm thinking these would be good for rough comps to bigger oil paintings I might do.

The cap colors lie... gotta do a lot of little tests before committing. Also, check out the super-long new sketchbook I bought too.

I call this "Standard American Landscapes"

Honk-shoos

Today at work there's this little goose football sleeping on the roof next to my window. It's so funny, he would poke out his head every once in a while to honk at seagulls or whatever, then go back to sleep in his feathers. There has to be a better napping place than a puddle on a roof in the rain, but I'm not a goose....honk!

Here's some more birds for good measure,,,,

"Quark!"
"Caw!"

An idea I had a while back making a children's book about common birds in a sketchbook-like format

Life Draws

Recently at work I've been going to some life drawing sessions held in our auditorium with coworkers as drawing models (clothed of course!) It's super fun and a great way to experiment with pen and watercolor. I'm glad I get the opportunity to do this at work. Here are some examples of the sketches I did:

Game of Thrones 2013-Joffrey!

With Game of Thrones season 3 premiere in just 6 days, I'm so inspired now to draw GOT characters! I decided to draw Joffrey if he was a spoiled little butt of a teenager in 2013. I don't know why I started with him though, maybe because I hate him so much. I'm thinking he would be pretty smartly dressed, but not necessarily hipstery.

Of course he's wearing a Burger King crown.

I love pickles. I really do. I think I'd like to become this pickle girl.

Some sketches of things I planted in my garden last year. Mostly lettuces and radishes.

I made a huge batch of kimchee recently and had to paint a stinky kimchee girl right after.

3 different types of radish girls:
Red globe radish
French breakfast radish
White daikon radish.
More food girls to come!
